Meet PINAR

Chief Happiness Officer, Founder

Based between New York and Boston, I am continuously inspired by Connecticut’s diverse landscapes, vibrant communities, and unique allure. I am blessed with a dynamic family comprised of my supportive husband, three crazy but uniquely charming children, and an adorable puppy, Mia.

My professional life started at Singapore Airlines as a young woman and encompasses years of work with esteemed media groups in Europe, including networks such as CNN Network (Hurriyet Gazetecilik) and Bloomberg Network (Haberturk Gazetecilik). I have developed expertise in various facets of the marketing and media industry, from digital publishing to national newspapers, TV and Radio broadcasting, and monthly magazine publications.

My roles have varied from editorial and project development to designing and selling advertorial creative projects, particularly on publishing within a comprehensive marketing framework from idea to execution. I have run live radio and T.V. broadcasts and have shared my insights on numerous subjects at local and national seminars, meetings, and summits. I have also led marketing, advertising, communication, and fundraising campaigns, and worked as a consulter giant brands like Lego, Tetra Pak, Unilever Brands, L’Oreal, Pampers, Marks & Spencer, Henkel Brands, Merck, Pfizer, Volvo, Volkswagen, Good Year, Singer, Nutella, Philips Avent, Lansinoh, Mustela, Nestle, Danone, Hero Baby, McDonald’s, Microsoft, IBM, Fisher Price, Tomy, Hasbro, Mattel, Kanz, Brio, and many local and European brands such as Banvit, Unibaby, Eczacibasi, Can Bebe, Molfix, Humana, L.C. Waikiki, Vestel, and many more strong brands in Education, Finance, Technology, Automotive and Health/Medicine Fields in Europe.

If you ask me what the one achievement that I am profoundly proud of, here is my answer:

I implemented crucial law reforms through a national social campaign I created, planned, and directed to support working women in Turkiye with my wonderful team full of women. These reforms have empowered thousands of Turkish women to remain employed after motherhood. The impact of this change garnered recognition and accolades from numerous institutions, associations, the European Union, and the United Nations. I am fully committed to each project I undertake and approach it passionately, with this cause holding a special place in my heart.

I have the honor of being one of the first two women in Turkiye to be recognized as successful women entrepreneurs in public school textbooks, an achievement I share with a dear friend. This recognition resulted from my efforts in designing, coding, creating a web magazine and printed magazine, and establishing the world’s most prominent mothers’ community on Yahoo Groups in 2002. As my venture grew, I launched Turkiye’s first printed monthly parenting magazine. A notable moment from this journey was delivering a speech at IBM’s Entrepreneurship Summit. The audience’s overwhelming response and emotional connection were defining moments that changed my life. I grew while my business was growing, and at the same time, I grew with my firstborn. He was my inspiration; he was the source of power that I needed. Subsequently, one of the country’s largest media groups acquired my company and appointed me as an executive, marking the beginning of my media career. At that moment, my team was only five people; after I started to work in media, I led teams of hundreds, including full-time employees, freelancers, and contributors. And created communities for millions of women.

The second chapter of my life began when my family and I relocated from Istanbul to Boston in 2014. Even though we came with a very special Visa, 01, Extra Ordinary Ability, which is given only to people such as Nobel Prize Winners, International Artists, and Scientists, it was still a challenging process of starting afresh in a new country, with three children and limited resources, was a transformative experience. The initial years were tough, marked by emotional, mental, and confidence challenges, so much so that my husband and I have little recollection of those early years. I am forever grateful to an incredible businesswoman, Stacy DeBroff, from Boston, who changed our lives forever. It’s been almost ten years, and we have built a life, made friends, and are living happily in Avon, Connecticut. And we are proud American Citizens.

After moving to the US, I worked for a wonderful Influence Marketing Company in Boston as SVP, which focuses especially on Women; after that, I worked for a super inspiring motorsport company and led their global communication, media, marketing, and merchandising. Currently, I work for a globally recognized, very prestigious school. I am extremely happy to do incredible things with a great team using my experience, creativity, and all transferable skills. I helped many great private schools in Turkiye with communication, media, editorial, and marketing purposes; now, I see things internally from a different perspective in America.

I studied Communication & Media, Psychology, Business Management, and Advanced Project Management. If you ask me, what I learned in MBA classes is how to focus clearly, organize, prioritize, and plan and manage. When I put it all together with my immigration experience in creating a new life from zero here in the US, I started to focus on things from neuropsychological and different multi-cultural mindset perspectives. That is why I’m currently a proud psychology post-grad student specializing in women and their behavior, minds, and thinking. I am slowly, happily, and passionately working to earn my PhD. I’ve spent years working in media, creating, marketing, and selling various content, products, services, events, and systems for mothers and women. My experience in communication, media, and marketing has given me a deep understanding of what women want to buy and why. I am familiar with every stage of a woman’s life, from pregnancy to motherhood, parenting, and postpartum challenges. These help me connect with women, create relevant products and content, and adapt to their evolving needs. My expertise covers all aspects of women’s lives, offering a well-rounded perspective on their experiences and needs.

Reflecting on my career, here’s what I’ve learned from experience:

From the most incredible airlines in the world, I learned how to make people feel valued, serve and connect with them, and do the best things with great kindness and professionalism.

From the most creative award-winning advertising agencies, I learned how to be more creative, see things that others don’t, and create strong connections with buyers by being surrounded by exceptionally creative people.

From my time in media, I learned how to thrive in a fast-paced environment, connect and collaborate with boards and diverse audiences, publish in mass media, and effectively lead. I gained skills in creating a vision, managing big teams, project planning, financial planning, reporting, and focusing on a positive EBITDA while creating content for mass, selling for mass, and talking to mass audiences.

From my craziest experience in motorsports, I’ve learned that nothing was a challenge for me before that job. Physically and mentally. It was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had, and I am so grateful for every second of it.

In my current role at a non-profit, I’ve discovered that achieving a healthy work-life balance is possible. I’ve found that genuine support and innovative, effective operations are not just dreams but realities in some exceptional organizations. While perfection is elusive, setting a goal to find a nurturing and growth-oriented environment can indeed lead you to such a place.

In short, every experience matters!
Each one helps us to grow and flourish.
We can achieve anything regardless of age if we truly desire it.
