Avon Community Fund Announces Open Call for Grant Proposals to Support Local Nonprofits

AVON, Conn. – The Avon Greater Together Community Fund (AGTCF), a part of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, has officially announced its latest open call for grant applications, offering a significant opportunity for nonprofits that serve the residents of Avon. This initiative marks the third instance where AGTCF has invited eligible 501(c)(3) registered nonprofits to apply for grants. The application process is also open to Avon residents who can apply in partnership with these nonprofits.

The AGTCF, established under the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving umbrella, aims to foster inclusive civic engagement and address the community’s needs. The current call for grant proposals allows for requests ranging from a minimum of $250 to a maximum of $10,000. It’s important to note that individuals, for-profit businesses, and civic organizations without a 501(c)(3) designation are not eligible for these grants.

Guided by a comprehensive town-wide survey conducted in September 2023, the AGTCF’s funding priorities this round are informed by the identified areas of greatest need within the Avon community. This approach ensures that the grants awarded will have the most significant impact on the residents.

Since its inception, the AGTCF has considerably impacted the community, awarding $70,000 in grants to 15 different nonprofit organizations. These beneficiaries range from educational and environmental groups to health and community service providers, demonstrating the fund’s commitment to a broad spectrum of community needs.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, which established the AGTCF in 2019 with an initial investment of $100,000, has seen the Community Fund grow with an additional $80,000, bringing the total investment to $180,000. The Foundation, serving Hartford and 28 surrounding towns, aims to strengthen these communities through strategic partnerships and philanthropy, focusing on dismantling structural racism and promoting social and economic equity.

Nonprofits and eligible residents interested in applying for these grants can find more details and application procedures on the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving’s website at www.hfpg.org/avoncf. For further inquiries, the Avon Greater Together Advisory Committee can be contacted at [email protected]

This initiative clearly indicates the AGTCF’s and the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving’s dedication to nurturing community-driven projects and fostering a spirit of collective responsibility and support in Avon and the broader region.
