Sometimes, shining bright means knowing where not to spend your light.
Focus isn’t about doing more – it’s about doing what makes the biggest impact. It’s about clarity, intention, and having the courage to let go of distractions. This year, I’m embracing the power of focus and publicly committing to building a life and career that aligns with my purpose.
The Power of Saying No
At a recent Toastmasters meeting, I felt the urge to raise my hand to volunteer as a mentor. Mentorship is powerful and rewarding; it’s a way to give back. But then I paused and asked myself: Does this align with my purpose right now?
Here’s what I’ve learned: every time we say “no” to something that pulls us off track, we’re saying “yes” to what truly matters. No isn’t selfish, it’s purposeful. It’s how we protect our time, our energy, and the vision we’ve set for ourselves. This year, I’m leaning into that power saying “no” to distractions and “yes” to the things that move me closer to the life I’m building.
This year, I’m reclaiming my time and focus, so no, I’m not being “voluntold” into chairing another chamber gala. And you shouldn’t either. Leading one in 2024 was a rewarding challenge, but this year, I’m channeling that energy into pursuits that align with my vision. Sometimes, shining bright means knowing where not to spend your light.
So, What Are You Focusing On?
For me, this year is about real estate, storytelling, and creating meaningful connections. I’m dedicated to sharing insights, exploring innovative solutions, and curating content that adds value to the real estate community. Aligning my efforts with what matters most allows me to make a more impactful contribution to the industry and the conversations shaping its future.
As part of this shift, even my interviews are evolving. Extraordinary women with incredible stories surround us, and I’m endlessly inspired by them. But this year, I’m narrowing my attention with intention. My conversations will center on real estate and the transformative developments shaping our communities. It’s not about saying no to great stories – it’s about saying “yes” to the ones that align with my purpose and amplify my vision.
A key part of that future is artificial intelligence (AI). AI isn’t just a tool – it’s a game changer. It’s how we uncover smarter ways to work, streamline processes, and innovate. Embracing AI allows me to stay ahead of the curve while creating meaningful opportunities for growth, both personally and professionally.
Another cornerstone of my focus is finetuning my communication skills, a craft I’ve been honing for over a decade. Whether I’m leading a panel discussion, presenting to a room full of investors, or negotiating a deal, effective communication transforms possibilities into results. This year, I’m continuing to refine how I connect, inspire, and lead.
Every Place Has a Story
Every place has a story, and this year, I’m committed to sharing them in ways that spark curiosity, highlight potential, and create meaningful connections. Through theheartofthebay.com, I’m celebrating the transformation of North Bay Village – a picturesque island community in Miami’s Biscayne Bay. Known for its waterfront views, vibrant culture, and untapped potential, North Bay Village is evolving into a thriving hub of opportunity. This project isn’t just about showcasing a location; it’s about fostering appreciation, sparking ideas, and connecting people with what’s possible.
Why Focus Matters
Focus is the antidote to the overwhelm of modern life. It’s the difference between being busy and being effective, between chasing distractions and making real progress.
When you focus, you unlock the power of purpose:
Clarity: Focus cuts through the noise, allowing you to see what truly matters and let go of the rest.
Efficiency: It’s not about doing more—it’s about doing what makes the biggest impact.
Fulfillment: When your actions align with your values, you don’t just get things done—you create meaning and lasting impact.

Curating Focus in All Areas of Life
This year, I’m also being intentional about what I consume – especially on social media. I’ve started unfollowing accounts that don’t bring value to my day.
For instance, seeing a real estate professional post a generic “just sold” graphic doesn’t inspire me. I want content that educates, tells a story, or offers real insight. One of my favorite people to follow is Bob Knakal, who shares the stories behind his deals. It’s this kind of storytelling that creates value and sparks inspiration.
By curating my feed, I’m creating a space that motivates and aligns with my vision rather than distracting me from it.

What Will You Focus on This Year?
This isn’t just my year of focus – it can be yours too.
Ask yourself:
What’s distracting you from your goals?
What’s pulling your energy in too many directions?
What would happen if you said no to the noise and yes to what truly matters?
Focus isn’t just about doing less – it’s about achieving more of what aligns with your purpose. It’s about creating a life that reflects your values, fuels your passions, and drives your vision forward.
This is my public declaration of focus. Now it’s your turn. What will you say yes to? Write to us and share your vision – let’s inspire and hold each other accountable to saying “yes” to what truly matters.
Let’s make this the year we stop being busy and start being BOLD and brilliant.
